As we all know, the English language can be complicated and contains words sourced from many different languages!
Plurals for octopus include Octopi, the oldest version, which comes from the belief that words from Latin should have Latin endings.
Octopuses was next, giving the word a much more English ending when it was adopted as an English word.
The 3rd (rarest) version is octopodes, which came from the belief that because the word was originally Greek, it should have a Greek ending.
Some people even use one octopus, many octopus! Which do you prefer?
So what is a group of octopuses called? A consortium!
