This time a year ago, it seemed that good news awaited Western Asutralia’s western rock lobster fishery. For the first time in eight years, climatic conditions were ideal for the strong recruitment of young lobster. But from August onwards, when researchers began sampling puerulus (or post-larval stage lobster) along the coast, they were suprised and increasingly alarmed at the low numbers.
